How
is the MATH Hub different from a regular math class? Will the class meet the same number of hours
as a lecture class? Will an instructor be in the MATH Hub to
help me? Do you have to be a really smart student
to take a class in the MATH Hub? What hours will the MATH Hub be open? Will I have to come to every class or can I work from home?
A class in the MATH Hub combines the lecture you would receive in a traditional class with computer-assisted instruction.
Students meet in a regular classroom for two hours each week so that the
instructor can cover major mathematics concepts. The rest of the class meetings will be in the MATH Hub where
students will use the computer to work individually on assignments. The instructor and other math tutors will be available in the MATH Hub to help
students with questions.
A class in the MATH Hub meets two hours per week in a lecture format. The students then will attend the HUB for three hours to actually work on math exercises and take tests. The number of credit hours for the course is the same as a traditional course. Summer classes meet for 1:20 hours Lecture and 2:00 hours Hub twice per week.
Yes. Your instructor will be in the MATH Hub with you during your assigned class time. If you use the MATH Hub outside your assigned class time, another instructor or math tutors will be there to help you.
